Description:
This 2000 photograph, provided by Chris Zahniser, B.S.N., R.N., M.P.H., depicted a teacher in a northern India village who had offered his hospitality to the Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) team by insisting that the group stay for tea outside his house. Though his children were older than 5 years of age, he was encouraging others in his village to take the polio vaccine. At the time, Chris Zahniser was a Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) team member and photographer, who was assigned to the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, and spent three months working in the Districts of Gorakhpur and Deoria.
