Young girl opening a door
This is one of three images which depicted three different scenarios taking place at the same residential rear door involving three different people in the process of exiting the residence to the home's back deck. This particular image showed a young girl who did not appear to be mobility-challenged, standing at this door, which was slightly opened, and was looking outside just before she was about to exit the residence. The door itself was of wood frame construction with glass panels, side hinged, and operated by using a levered handle. Implementing a universal design, there was ample space around the door, and an exterior porch level with the first floor. The door's windows allowed residents the opportunity to see who was outside, a 36' width that provided for easy passage by all, and a low threshold that reduced the entry barriers to those with mobility problems, as well as the likelihood of tripping for all.
