Description:
Depicted in this 1994 image, a woman who was seated in her wheelchair, had approached an office receptionist, and was conversing with her through an information window, while it appeared that she was in the process of filling out an appointment attendance book. Note that the level of the writing ledge was quite accommodating to the wheelchair-seated, mobility-challenged visitor, which showed that such situations were taken into account during the design phase of this interactive site. In new facilities it is preferred that the lowered surface be built-in as an integral part of the receptionist area. Such designs are able to facilitate the experience for both mobility-challenged, as well as non-challenged participants.
