Description:
As a closer view of PHIL 12476, this photograph depicts the colonial morphology displayed by Gram-negative Brucella suis bacteria, which was grown on a medium of chocolate agar, for a 48 hour time period, at a temperature of 37C. See PHIL 12475, for a view of these bacteria grown on the same medium and temperature, but for half the time period (24hr). Also note PHIL 12478 and 12479, again depicting B. suis organisms, which were grown on both the same medium and temperature, but for a greater time period (72hr). Brucella spp. bacteria are pathogenic towards humans, and cause a disease known as brucellosis.
