Chuck Houghten

Description:

Chuck Houghten, a Division Chief for the Pacific Region's National Wildlife Refuge program, heading up Conservation Planning, Visitor Services and Transportation, was drafted into the Army and served on active duty from November 1972 to September 1974. He was honorably discharged in November 1978. He spent his entire tenure with the Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and became an Instructor in the Clerical School at the rank of Corporal. He also served as a Battalion HQ company clerk - for the 544th Supply and Service Battalion - as a Specialist 4th Class. After his service, he returned to college at Western Michigan University with a degree in Public Administration and then a masterâs degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State.
