Tom MacKenzie, External Affairs, Atlanta . Colonel, U.S. Army Reserves. Tom MacKenzie entered the U.S. Army in 1978 serving as an Armor Officer in Kentucky, West Germany, and New Mexico. He continued his military service in the Army Reserves, serving in operations, public affairs, and exercise positions with the 91st Division (Exercise), Forces Command Augmentation unit, Joint Forces Augmentation Unit, Combined Forces Command –Afghanistan, and 9th Mission Support Command in Hawaii. He retired as a Colonel, Armor, in the U.S. Army Reserve. . Band of brothers:. All five of Tom’s brothers served in either the Marine Corps or the Army. They include:. 1st Lt. Toby Gritz who was killed in Viet Nam in a aircraft collision in his cobra attack helicopter on his second tour,. John Gritz, who retired as a Colonel in Special Forces, . Retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Paul Gritz in Aviation,. Captain Rock MacKenzie, Infantry, who served five years, . and Major Bob MacKenzie, Armor, (medically retired). . Tom has served with the Fish and Wildlife Service since 1998 in External Affairs in Georgia. Prior to coming to us, he conducted public affairs with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Army. He has a nephew, Jeff Gritz in 5th Special Forces group who joined after 9/11, rising to the rank of Sgt. First Class.
