Everett Dobrinski (at table, wearing glasses), CoBANK, North Dakota, attended a meeting at the White House, in Washington, DC, on July 6, 2011. He was asked to participate along with President Barack Obama, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, the President's Domestic Policy Adviser Melody Barnes and rural communities leaders from across the country for the White House Rural Champions of Change event to strengthen rural communities and promote economic growth. Farming all his life in ND, taught high school while farming for a few years, full-time farmer now. He is a leader in co-operatives with farming. Now is a board chairman of CoBank that is a farm credit bank, which lends to rural electric, water, and telephone. Also lends to farm credit associations. Most co-ops only lend to farm credit associations but CoBank also does direct loans. Lends through USDA, especially to start-up coops, like ethanol. Also serves on rural electric co-operative board.
