Title:
Col. Farrell tours Tahoe’s Third Creek restoration site
Description:
130819-A-QE256-022 – Col. Mike Farrell (second from right), commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, and Lee Bass (third from right), acting deputy for programs and project management for the district, look over a newly-installed pedestrian bridge crossing Third Creek near Incline Village, Nev., Aug. 19, 2013. The Sacramento District and the Incline Village General Improvement District recently completed an ecosystem restoration project along Incline Creek and Third Creek. Both creeks have been a large source of sediment for nearby Lake Tahoe, reducing its prized clarity. The restoration project returned the creeks to a more natural state, reducing their sediment discharge into the lake. Newly planted vegetation along the creek bank helps control erosion, a major source of sediment discharge. (U.S. Army photo by Patrick Bray/Released)
