Construction representatives with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District inspected the remaining asphalt work as one of the last steps before the heavily-used recreational trail can reopen later this month. A detour was necessary while levee construction proceeded along the American River during the summer. The work is part of the American River Common Features project, a joint effort between the Corps, the stateâs Central Valley Flood Protection Board and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency to reduce flood risk for Sacramento.
