Deputy Administrator for Special Nutrition Programs in the Food and Nutrition Service Audrey Rowe (second from left) attended Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsackâs announcement on Friday, April 29, 20ll in Washington, DC, that the U.S. Department of Agriculture and he, are committed to ending childhood hunger. Secretary Vilsack presented USDA's resources to champion the end of hunger and create innovative partnerships to address hunger, especially among children. Vilsack informed the audience that USDA has made available to individuals, groups and communities the tools and technical assistants to become champions themselves in ending childhood hunger. He shared the web address www.fns.usda.gov/ech, where people can participate in an online commitment for that cause and identified actions that can be taken. When a person registers as a Stakeholder, they, their group or community can be kept informed and have input about ending childhood hunger. A follow-on link to ' www.serve.gov"; can assist a person in finding volunteer opportunities in their area; register an unlisted program; share a story about a volunteer project or personal experience; and help get the word out about United We Serve.
