U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Under Secretary and Vice Chair of the USDA CFC Campaign Michael T. Scuse makes the first eGiving pledge to the 2013 USDA Combined Federal Campaign during the opening ceremony and fund raising event on Tuesday, Sept 17, 2013 in the Whitten Building, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Washington, D.C. He also announced the Coin Wars Challenge where mission areas had containers for coin donations. Pennies were worth positive points and all other coins had negative point values based on their denomination. Those with a competitive nature, could lower the points score of another organization by loading their container with silver coins, and their own organization with pennies. Other event activities attracted employees on personal time to participate in fund raising activities that generated donations and donation registrations that will help support charities. The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the largest and most successful workplace charitable giving drive in the world. CFC is the only authorized charitable organization solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces. CFC is structured to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is cost-efficient and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to impact the CFC charitable interest of their choosing.
