SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District regulatory project manager Zach Simmons accepts an award on behalf of the district from Sacramento Transportation Management Association coordinator Marilyn Bryant during a May is Bike Month kickoff event here May 2. The award recognized the Sacramento District as a 2011 bike-friendly workplace. “To lure commuters out of their cars we have to convince them that bicycle commuting is not just for the bold and the brave, it is a relatively safe form of transportation,” said Bryant, organizer of the Sacramento May is Bike Month campaign, which promotes the use of bicycle transportation with special events and promotions throughout the month of May.
