Title:
Corps moves forward with Marysville Ring Levee project
Description:
MARYSVILLE, Calif. – Marysville Ring Levee project manager Mark Ellis (left), with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, and a project safety officer oversee a heavy equipment scraper on the Marysville ring levee in Marysville, July 13. The Corps is using a deep soil mixing process, which combines clay bentonite and cement with existing soil to create a thick, solid surface that won’t allow water to leak through or beneath the levee, to upgrade a 4,000-foot section of the levee as part of the project’s first phase. This $10.8 million phase of the project has been funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2011. (U.S. Army Photo / Michael J. Nevins)
