THE BERYLLIUM TECHNOLOGY FACILITY AT LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY. LANL'S BERYLLIUM TECHNOLOGY FACILITY RECEIVED A DEFENSE PROGRAMS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FROM DOE'S NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION. THIS FACILITY IS THE FIRST STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY IN THE U.S. DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR WORKING WITH BERYLLIUM. THE AWARD RECOGNIZES FIVE YEARS OF WORK TO BEGIN PROCESSING BERYLLIUM METAL, AN EFFORT THAT INCLUDED THE DEMOLITION OF AN EXISTING FACILITY AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW 16000 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY.
