Created by a Working Group at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the PHIL offers an organized, universal electronic gateway to CDC's pictures.
They welcome public health professionals, the media, laboratory scientists, educators, students, and the worldwide public to use this material for reference, teaching, presentation, and public health messages.
Most of the images in the collection are in the public domain and are thus free of any copyright restrictions.
Permission is not required for public domain images, but they do ask that you credit the original institution and contributor, when known, whenever the image is used in any publicly distributed media. For more information, please visit http://phil.cdc.gov/Phil/faq.asp#question7.
